The following "Guiding Principles" will drive our interactions both internally and externally with our broad array of constituents:
We believe Christ-centered churches and organizations are commissioned to reach beyond their physical walls to transform the communities in which they dwell with both messages of hope AND good works.
- Our work will focus on equipping and strengthening these organizations to carry out this mandate.
We believe the church is the oldest and preeminent institution in serving the poor and needy and should be valued as an essential partner in solving community ills.
- Our work will bridge relationships and build collaborative partnerships between the faith and philanthropic community.
We believe churches and organizations should not have to compromise their principles and Biblical foundation to achieve success.
- Our work will focus on providing training, resources, and information that educates these organizations on navigating and gaining benefit from some of the key social, governmental and philanthropic processes, while staying "true" to their values.
We believe churches and organizations located in or near urban and low-income communities should be the leaders in identifying and seeking to meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of those citizens.
- Our work will focus on assisting these organizations in community needs assessments, internal organizational capacity—building for measurable impact, program development, and more.
We believe organization size is not necessarily a determinant of quality of outcomes, rather steadfast commitment to goals, meticulous attention to detail, continuous improvement and heart for the mission yields excellence.
- Our work will empower organizations to effectively set measurable goals and to develop strategic business and fund raising plans to meet those goals.
- Our work will also train professional consultants to work alongside organizations to provide further insight and assistance, coaching and performance evaluation.
We believe the church, organizations and all others who claim Christ and the Bible as their foundation MUST operate with undisputable honesty and integrity in their internal and external dealings and relationships.
- Our work will highlight this Biblical mandate throughout training sessions—especially in the areas of program measurement and performance reporting, financial accountability, dealing with vulnerable populations, etc.
- Our work will follow this approach when designing programs, curriculum and training programs, and training consultants who support and provide services to these organizations.
We believe philanthropy including human and financial capital—individual and institutional—are essential in building, supporting and sustaining healthy communities.
- Our work will be to serve as a voice to individual philanthropists, corporations, and foundations on the value of investing in faith—based initiatives.
- Our work will train the faith community in the vital fiscal principles of funds development and good stewardship of charitable resources and provisions.
